Advantage Yacht Sales Staff
Jack Wasson has spent 40 years sailing the waters of the northeast. He has owned a sailboat for 30 years, starting with a Cape Dory 19 which he cruised throughout Cape Cod Bay.
Jack co-founded Advantage Yacht Sales with Doug in 2007. Jack brings expertise in both sales and marketing. He spent 22 years in the advertising industry as an executive at Arnold Advertising, where he lead the regional McDonald’s campaign. He has spent the last 10 years close to the water, as Sales Manager of a yacht dealership in Massachusetts. He has a joint degree from Syracuse University and the Cox Business School.
Jack lives in Newburyport, MA with his wife Lisa, a professional caterer. He is also the proud father of 3 extraordinary children – Jennifer, Fletcher, and MacKenzie.
Doug Giuliana loves sailing. Doug was introduced to sailing by his wife Michelle when they went sailing on the Charles River in Boston. The joy of finding the wind and making the boat go fast was all Doug needed to become instantly addicted. Little did he know that sailing would become his hobby, passion, and career.
Doug co-founded Advantage Yacht Sales with Jack, providing the business leadership and operations management to complement Jack’s expertise in sales and marketing. Doug received his MBA from Babson College in 2005, with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Doug first entered the marine industry in 2004 when he founded SailTime Boston, which offers fractional memberships in new cruising sail and power yachts. Most recently, in 2008 Doug co-founded Black Rock Sailing School in Boston, MA to offer a superior learning environment for new and experience sailors.
Doug continues to sail with his wife as well as his young daughter Lauren, who loves to take the helm, can tie a bowline, and knows that there are no blue buoys.
Bruce Smith grew up sailing with his family, cruising on the coast of Maine and the Canadian Maritimes, as well as participating in ’round the buoys racing out of Portsmouth, NH. After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering at UNH, he continued to enjoy his love of the Maine coast with his wife Cheryl and eventually his two children, Kristen and Carl, on their classic Allied Seabreeze.
Bruce handles the sailboat brokerage for Advantage Yacht Sales. His boat building and restoration experience has provided him with extensive knowledge of the used sailboat market to assist sailors in finding the boat that best fits their needs.
Will grew up in New Jersey on Barnegat Bay with my father teaching me the rules of the road and respect for the ocean. His first “boat” at the age of five was an 8 foot pram with a three horse Evinrude on it. He has been boating ever since on a variety of power and sail in Jersey, Florida and MA.
After 40 years in the semiconductor industry it was an easy decision for Will to get involved with boating professionally. He finds assisting others in their boat purchasing and ownership experience extremely rewarding because he knows first-hand the enjoyment their new boat will bring.!
Carolyn is a native of Plum Island and the Boston area. In the early years she spent summers on Plum Island playing in the waves and on the sandbars with the local Island kids. This led to her love of the ocean and an eight year run as a Newburyport Lifeguard. As a self motivated sales person with many years of experience in the retail world, she has worked center stage and backstage earning regional and national sales awards. Carolyn developed her sailing aspirations at the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Club on small day sailboats. She further honed her skills on cruising boats while crewing with members of the American Yacht Club in Newburyport. During her free time Carolyn loves hanging out with her son sailing, surfing, riding the waves on sea kayaks, and traveling. Carolyn has visited the Beneteau factory in France and participated in the Beneteau Academy in Nantes and Paris, learning all facets of Beneteau Yacht construction.
Tom Chicoine leads the service department, responsible for all new boat commissioning, electronics installations, repairs, and warranty. Tom is a former New Hampshire firefighter.
Diane keeps the office running smoothly, the boat listings up-to-date, and makes sure we all eat our vegetables.
